 9. 단순 능동 / 수동
▶ Point
․ 주어가 다른 것에 의하여 어떤 동작을 받거나 당하는 표현으로서 형태는 be + pp(과거분사)이다
․ 수동을 쓰는 경우는 다음과 같다.

① 주어를 모를 때
 The money was stolen.누가 훔쳤는지 알아? 아니.

② 주어가 중요하지 않거나 너무 당연할 때
  Is this room cleaned everyday? (누가 청소하는가는 관심 없음, 청소만 되어 있으면 됨)
  English is spoken in Canada.(누가 말하는데? 몰라서 묻나?)

③ 행위를 당하는 것을 강조하고 싶을 때
  My dinner was eaten by the dog.(아까운 내 밥)
  The dog ate my dinner.(망할 놈의 개**)
․ be + pp 다음에는 4, 5형식동사(call, give, consider)를 제외하고 명사나 to 부정사 등이 올 수 없다.

․ The term ballet [use / is used] in Britain for most pieces of stage dancing having artistic purpose.
․ The greenhouse effect is a phenomenon that is caused when carbon dioxide [is released / released] and trapped in the atmosphere.
․ The rain forests of the Amazon are [believed / believing] to have tens of thousands of species of plants, many of them still unknown to scientists.
