Point
take는 본래 ‘취하다/잡다’의 뜻에서 발전해서 ‘시간을 걸리게 하다/잡아먹다’의 뜻으로 쓰인다. 앞에 가주어 it이 나오면 뒤에 진주어로 to부정사를 써서 [it takes (시간) to부정사] 형식으로 쓰인다.

[It] takes ~ [to V~]
It took me three years to write this novel
(나는 이 소설을 쓰는데 3년이 걸렸다.)

간접목적어(me) 뒤에 기간을 뜻하는 명사(구)(three years)가 직접목적어로 올 수 있다.
ex) This novel took me three years to write.

부정사의 목적어로 쓰인 것(this novel)을 주어 자리인 It 대신에 쓸 수 있다.
